I've posted a few times about my dithering over whether to upgrade to Windows 7 and seem to have had quite a few page hits but I did ask last weekend if anyone had installed Windows 7 and if they would let me have any comments on how things went. But not heard a thing from anybody. I'm not looking for great technical treatises on Windows 7, just a couple of lines on how the install went, particularly if going from 32bit Vista to 64bit Windows 7?
C'mon peeps, someone out there must have given in to the white hot maelstrom of MS hype, loving it, hating it, anything??
Hi there - we've a mutual friend in David over at Palmblogging I believe.
I've installed Windows 7 on both my home desktops. One was a Vista box and the other an XP box. Neither new - minimum couple of years old.
Did a clean install on both.
Verdict?
Windows 7 is superb. Well worth upgrading. Interface is great, connecting the two PC's together on my home wireless network was a breeze. Far more polish than XP, and far less restrictive than Vista.
If you make the jump - and I'd recommend it, make sure you back up, and if you have the time, do a clean install. Well worth the time and effort of reinstalling programs to get rid of all the "kludge" that inevitable builds up in any system over time.
Hope that's helpful. If you've any specific questions, please drop me an email
